Company History
Cruces Trophy was founded in 1980 by Mark and Cynthia Stansell. Mr. Stansell started the business out of his garage as a hobby, engraving name badges for a local restaurant chain he owned. He then began engraving badges for other restaurants around the state. When others found out that he had an engraving machine, people started asking him to engrave trophy plates. Mr. Stansell decided it was time to get out of the restaurant business and begin engraving and building trophies full time.
In 1991 Jeff Giffing started working for Cruces Trophy while attending college in pursuit of a degree in Criminal Justice. After graduation, in 1997, Jeff and his wife, Joy, purchased fifty percent of Cruces Trophy. In 2000 they became the sole owners and began remodeling the showroom and work areas. Joy organized the books and computerized customer invoicing and receivables. While Jeff streamlined production and brought equipment up to date.
Jeff & Joy, along with Erich Klofach, Jonathan Smith, and Madi Boone, make up the company’s five employees. Erich has been with Cruces Trophy for seven years and handles the bulk of production and laser engraving. The over 25 years of success is due to the contributions of former and current honest, loyal, hard working employees.
In 2007 the business was honored to be extended the invitation to one of the Recognition industries most elite groups, The Recognition Roundtable. Cruces Trophy has held membership in the Awards & Recognition Association for over 25 years and recently won 3rd Place in the International Awards Market Contest for Best Plaque. In October, 2005 The Greater Las Cruces Chamber of Commerce recognized Cruces Trophy as Business of the Month. The most precious of awards is being able to, year after year, serve customers in such a rewarding capacity.
